PAASCU grants Accreditation to Philippine School Bahrain (PSB); the first Philippine Schools Overseas (PSO) to be granted PAASCU accreditation
Just as the year 2015 sets to close, Philippine School (Bahrain) received the best gift in 21 years by making a historic mark of being the first Philippine School Overseas to obtain an Accredited Status Level 1 by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU).
In an e-mail sent by PAASCU Executive Director Mrs. Concepcion V. Pijano on December 15, she said that the Board of Director was in unanimous agreement that the Basic Integrated Education Program of Philippine School (Bahrain) is granted an initial accreditation of three years.
Level 1 Accredited Status affirms a program's compliance with standards of quality and excellence in Basic Education. Programs granted this status enjoy the distinction for three years. The School holds a Candidate Status in 2013 after the preliminary survey on November 26-27, 2013.
The School’s Board of Governors through School Director Dr. Geronimo R. Salem Jr. in an e-mail congratulated everyone who took part in this history. He said, “We made it! Thank you for your support, sacrifices, commitment and dedication. Maligayang PAASCU!”
He further said that this PAASCU accreditation is a continuing process and commitment of the School to educational excellence.
It can be recalled that the members of the PSB Formal Survey Visit Team on December 2-3, 2015 were Dr. Cynthia C. Arcadio, Chair, PAASCU Commission on Integrated Basic Education; Mr. Marc V. Hernandez, Chair, PAASCU Commission on Elementary Education; Dr. Amelia G. Ronquillo, Directress for Academic Affairs, Colegio San Agustin Makati; Ms. Remedios H. Cruz, Principal, PWU-Jose Abad Santos Memorial School Malate Manila; and Ms. Concepcion V. Pijano, PAASCU Executive Director.
The areas that the Evaluation team carefully examined during the visit included philosophy and objectives, faculty, administration, curriculum and instruction, student services, library, physical plant, laboratories and school-community involvement.
